Burlingame and Lyndon advanced to the Wabaunsee Sub-State championship with tight wins in semi-final action.
Lyndon held off Jackson Heights 39-31 in a game that saw defense cause shooting issues for both teams.
Jackson Heights would grab an early lead but Lyndon would quickly take over on a 9-0 run in the first quarter. The Tigers would take a 13-10 lead into halftime. A sudden burst by Jackson Heights in the third would see the cobras take over 15-13 before Lyndon would recapture the lead and never look back.
Lyndon was led in scoring by senior Jamie Reed with 13 points.
Lyndon Head Coach Mike Massey says during the game his mentality became survive and advance.
Jackson Heights was led by junior Levi Olberding with 10 points.
In the second semi-final game Burlingame outlasted Olpe 52-46 in a back and forth matchup.
Olpe would get out to an early lead in the first before Burlingame would come back to tie 10-10 to end the quarter. In the second quarter Burlingame would overtake the game and lead 25-21 at halftime. In the second half Olpe managed to come within two but could never over come the Bearcats lead.
Burlingame was led by seniors Colton Noonen with 15 points and Caiden Musick with 14.
Bearcats head coach Creighton Winters says he felt his team desserved the win, despite struggling at the foul line.
Senior Wyatt Schultz led Olpe with 15.
Lyndon and Burlingame will meet in the Wabaunsee Sub-State championship game Saturday.
