The Kansas Jayhawks out scored West Virginia 81-70 to win their 11th Big-12 post season tournament championship Saturday.
The game featured 10 ties and 13 lead changes. West Virginia led 34-33 at halftime. Kansas out scored the Mountianeers 48-36 in the 2nd half. Kansas Coach Bill Self said they played one of the better halfs of the season.
Kansas had 5 players score in double-figures led by Malik Newman with 20 points. He made 6 of 8 three point shots and was named the tournaments Most Outstanding Player.
Devonte Graham added 18 points.
Svi Mykhailiuk and Silvio De Sousa both scored 16 points, and Lagerald Vick scored 10 points. De Sousa finished with a game high 10 rebounds.
Graham and Newman were named to the All Tournament team. Kansas States Makol Mawien was also named to the All Tournament team.
The Jayhawks will learn their NCAA Tournament fate Sunday. Kansas will be making its 47th NCAA Tournament appearance, including its NCAA record 29th in a row, a streak which started in 1990.
