After eight seasons, 199 wins, five MIAA tournament Championships, six NCAA tournament appearances, including one Final 4 Emporia State women’s basketball coach Jory Collins has resigned to accept an assistant coaches position with the University of Kansas.
Coach Collins said it was an opportunity to good to turn down.
Coach Collins said for now it is the right decision.
Of all of his accomplishments, Coach Collins says there is one thing he is the most proud of.
Coach Collins assumed the head coaching post in 2010 after the Lady Hornets won the national championship. He rejoins former Emporia State head coach Brandon Schneider who finished his 3rd season at the University of Kansas.
For Senior Addie Lackey it is a little bitter – sweet.
Senior Kyrstie Miller says it did catch her by surprise.
Emporia State Athletic Diretor Kent Wesier said they owe Coach Collins a debt of gratitude.
Mr. Weiser said he already has received at least 1 resume and is expecting a lot of interest in the job.
Coach Collins will begin his duties with the University of Kansas next week.
