The Emporia State baseball team out scored 20th ranked Missouri Southern 9-4 Saturday.
Bryce Fischer gave the Hornets a 2-0 lead with a two run home run in the first inning. Fischer also drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the 7th inning. Kaden Shaffer drove in a run with a single in the 7th and 2 runs with a double in the 9th. Emporia State closed out the scoring with 4 runs in the 9th. Tanner Cairns picked up his 5th win of the season. Layne Downing earned his first save with two shutout innings of relief. Emporia State is now 15-10 for the season and 6-6 in the MIAA. Emporia State and Missouri Southern close out the 3 game series Sunday afternoon.
