The Emporia High baseball team was swept by Topeka Seaman in a doubleheader Thursday night.
Seaman won the first game 9-1. The Spartans scored the games 1st run in the 2nd inning. John Miller scored on an Eric Hertlein sacrifice fly. The big inning for Seaman was a 5 run 5th inning. Seaman won the 2nd game 7-4. Again Emporia High scored first. They scored 2 runs in the first inning. Hayden Baumwart scored on an error and Beau Baumgardner scored on a Jace Stewart single. Seaman would score 4 runs in the 3rd inning and 3 runs in the 4th inning. The Spartans scored a single run in the 3rd inning, Sawyer Slayden scoring on a Skyler Douglas single. The Spartans added a single run in the 4th inning, Skyler Beatty scoring on a Beau Baumgardner double. Despite losing both games Emporia High Coach Anthony Markowitz said they took steps forward, especially in the 2nd game.
The Spartans fall to 1-5 for the season. They are scheduled to play at Washburn Rural Tuesday
