Former Coffey County deputy Matthew Vander Linden will spend time in prison after pleading no contest to child sex crimes.
Vander Linden was sentenced to nearly five years in prison during a hearing in Coffey County District Court on Thursday. Vander Linden, 29, will also be subject to lifetime post-release supervision and sex offender registration.
In December, Vander Linden pleaded no contest to two counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child and two counts of criminal sodomy. The crimes against a then-15-year-old occurred in November 2016 while Vander Linden was a deputy.
