Lyon County’s Road and Bridge Department is taking advantage of new technology to increase efficiency.
On Thursday, Lyon County commissioners approved the purchase of 20 tablets to go into certain Road and Bridge vehicles. Assistant County Engineer Jim Brull tells KVOE News the new technology package will help the department in several ways.
The equipment is part of a PubWorks asset management package that includes tablets, software and data conversions along with set-up and training. Total cost is around $33,000. Brull says the tablets won’t go into every department vehicle, but they will help truck drivers and grader operators, who can input their information wherever they may be.
In other business, commissioners held seven executive sessions and also fielded commission and staff reports.
