Plenty of smiles and good weather greeted those who came out to support the 11th annual Laps for Landon at ESU Welch Stadium Tuesday evening.
The fundraiser, named for 11-year-old Landon Dody who was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, has raised over $80,000 in its brief history. Landon’s father Aron Dody says community support has been nothing short of incredible.
The evening included a silent auction with a Royals ticket package, a new grill and an entry into the Lunar Kanza bike ride. Also back for the second year was the Lazy Butt Barbecue Crew serving barbecue sandwiches and collecting free will donations. Owner and operator Karl Baker says he enjoys being part of the event to support his own grandson.
ESU student-athletes and ESU health promotions students volunteered with games and activities. Fundraising totals are pending. Photos can be found at KVOE.com.
