Two Emporians are among six people arrested in Jackson County for suspected drug-related behavior over the weekend.
KVOE’s television WIBW in Topeka says a police officer in Hoyt stopped a vehicle in the town early Sunday. An investigation then led to the arrest of all six people inside the car, including 21-year-old Cierra Lopez and 23-year-old Marqus Moya, both of Emporia. Both were arrested on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia as well as transporting open containers of alcohol.
The other four arrested — 23-year-old Mayetta resident Tarin Blaylock, 32-year-old Wichita resident Blake Cheney, 21-year-old Okoonii Thomas of Horton and 26-year-old Mikey Tyson-Tadhooahnippah of Topeka — were arrested on nearly identical charges. Lopez and Moya were also held for other outstanding warrants.
Word on formal charges is pending. In addition to Hoy Police, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and Potawatomi Tribal Police Department helped with the investigation.
