Expect bridge work on the Kansas Turnpike near the Admire-Council Grove exit Friday.
Crews will be at mile marker 143, about four miles south of that tollgate, for bridge repairs. This will affect the northbound outside lane. Crews have been at this location since Wednesday and the work should wrap up early next week.
This project follows bridge deck repairs just south of Emporia on Thursday and coincides with a series of bridge upgrades and replacements now underway between the Emporia tollgate and Emporia service area. That round of work won’t be done until 2020.
In addition, crews will be sweeping the center barrier wall from the Emporia service area to the Admire-Council Grove exit on Friday. This will start as a southbound project but will finish as a northbound project.
