Riverside Elementary students are becoming financially literate.
ESB Financial held a pizza party for the first class in Lyon County to have all students complete the game Money Island on Thursday. The event is designed to educate students on how to properly manage their finances. Fourth Grade teacher Randielle Houser says her class loves the game.
Fourth Grader Brian Ortiz Garcilazo said, “We learned about what we are going to use later on in life like taxes, credit cards, and saving.” ESB Financial Vice President of Treasury Management, Kim Parks talked about the game itself.
ESB Financial enlisted the help of Emporia State’s School of Business students to assist kids with understanding the game. ESB is offering free adult codes for any parents or teachers in Lyon County interested in having their kids or students play the game. To get your code you can call 342-3454, visit any of ESB locations, or go online to esbfinancial.moneyisland.com.
