Some much-needed rainfall graced the KVOE listening area this past weekend.
Here at the KVOE studios, we picked up 0.60 inches of rainfall. The Municipal Airport picked up almost 0.90 inches of rain over the weekend. Portions of south-central and southeast Kansas picked up anywhere from one to two inches of rain.
Rainfall is welcome with Lyon and surrounding counties in deepening drought the past several months. Lyon and most surrounding counties are in severe drought, with extreme drought now into western Chase and southwest Morris counties. Moderate drought remains for eastern Coffey and Osage counties.
The latest drought update is coming Thursday from the US Drought Monitor. More rain is possible from Tuesday afternoon into Thursday night.
