A Morris County roofer has been banned from doing business in Kansas after failing to perform work after he received payment.
Attorney General Derek Schmidt announced Monday that Quinn Wilcox, of Dwight, is also being ordered to pay restitution totalling nearly $17,000 to a Kansas customer. He also must pay a civil penalty and reimburse the attorney general’s office the cost of its investigation.
Schmidt had accused Wilcox of accepting payment from a Riley County consumer to perform roofing services, but never finishing the work. He also was not registered with the attorney general’s office as required by the Kansas Roofing Registration Act.
Judge Meryl D. Wilson entered the default judgement last week in Riley County District Court after Wilcox didn’t respond to a lawsuit filed by Schmidt’s office last month.
