The Emporia High softball team split a doubleheader with Manhattan Tuesday night. Manhattan won the first game 10-1. Emporia High walked off with a 11-10 win in 11 innings in game 2.
In the first game Manhattan scored 7 runs in the 3rd inning to put the game out of reach. The Lady Spartans scored their lone run in the bottom of the 7th.
In the 2nd game Kristeena Thompson tied the game at 8 with a solo homerun in the 7th. Manhattan took a 10-8 lead in the top of the 11th. Emporia High answered with 3 runs in the bottom of the 11th. Lauren Jansen-Clarke doubled with the bases loaded and drove in both the tying and winning runs.
Coach Troy Chapman was pleased with the way the team bounced back from the loss in game 1.
The Lady Spartans play at Shawnee Heights Friday.
