One man was hospitalized this week after falling off the roof of an Emporia business.
Emporia rescue workers were dispatched to Thomas Transfer and Storage, 906 East Sixth, right around 5 pm Monday. Battalion Chief Ryan Conley says the original call was for a fall of over 40 feet.
The patient, currently unnamed, had fallen off a roof on the east side of the property, and Conley confirms the man fell at least 40 feet to the ground. LifeTeam Midwest was dispatched, landed on site and airlifted him to Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka for care and evaluation.
The circumstances leading up to the fall have not been divulged.
