Once again, local law enforcement and the Drug Enforcement Agency are cooperating to prevent drug abuse.
Operation Prescription Take Back will be in full swing Saturday at Flint Hills Community Health Center with Emporia Police, Lyon County deputies and the DEA taking expired prescription and non-prescription drugs. Detective Dominick Vortherms was on KVOE to discuss the importance of the event.
Vortherms says you can hand off your expired and unwanted drugs without even getting out of the car from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Interest has certainly increased in the biannual event, which now routinely brings in anywhere from 170 to 300 pounds of prescriptions each event.
