Sentencing is coming Friday for an Emporia man who was one of several individuals involved in an alleged kidnapping and beating of a 16-year-old juvenile last fall.
An 11 a.m. hearing is scheduled for 18-year-old Samuel Garcia. In March, Garcia pleaded to single counts of conspiracy to commit aggravated kidnapping and aggravated battery. The incident allegedly occurred near RoadsĀ 140 and P south of Emporia Nov. 18. Garcia is one of two adults charged in the case.
The other adult, Andrew Granado faces a preliminary hearing at 3 p.m. Monday on charges of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated battery, conspiracy on those counts and aggravated robbery.
Three of the five juvenile defendants also are being tried as adults in the case. They include Armando Nunez, Selena Hernandez and Jonathon Manzano. Each faces a range of counts including aggravated battery, aggravated robbery, aggravated kidnapping, conspiracy on those counts and aiding and abetting. Preliminary hearings for those three will take place at 1:15 p.m. on May 3.
