Emporia State University introduced Craig Doty as the 17th Head Mens Basketball Coach in school history Friday.
Doty , who spent the last two seasons at Graceland University in Iowa, was selected from over 160 applicants to take over the mens basketball program. Doty said this is the type of job he has on his coaching bucket list.
Doty has won 3 national championships. One last season at Graceland and two at Rock Valley College in Illinois. Coach Doty says he does not see Emporia State as a rebuilding job.
Coach Doty says his first job is develop a relationship with the players.
As for the style of play, Coach Doty says they run a lot of set plays.
Senior to be Brandon Hall liked what he heard from Coach Doty.
Hassan Thomas is also excited about the future.
Emporia State Athletic Director Kent Weiser says the quality of his experience set Coach Doty apart from the other applicants.
Coach Doty replaces Shaun Vandiver who is now an assistant at Wyoming.
