Disc golf athletes from around the world are aiming high with their discs during this week’s Glass Blown Open Tournament.
Among those athletes is Paige Pierce, the past co-champion and also a four-time world champion who, according to the Professional Disc Golf Association has amassed 100 career wins and over $159,000 in earnings. Pierce spoke with KVOE on why she looks forward to coming back to Emporia each year.
Pierce says there’s also some different levels of difficulty on the course, that’s simply not seen in other locations.
Pierce explains what her goals are for the weekend.
With more than 1,600 athletes competing this weekend, participation among women is slowly increasing. Pierce says she’s among 37 competing this weekend in the GBO and says there were about 40 women that competed in the world championships.
