The Emporia State softball team is 1 win away from winning the MIAA tournament and advancing to the NCAA regionals.
The Lady Hornets extended their winning streak to 12 in a row with a 9-5 win over Lindenwood in the Championship semi-finals Friday. The Lady Hornets held a 4-0 lead before Lindenwood scored 3 runs in the 3rd inning. Emporia State added 2 runs in the 5th and scored 3 more runs in the 6th. Annie Rockley drove in 3 runs and Danielle Sprinkle drove in 2 of the 6 earned runs. Montana Mesler was the winning pitcher going 4 innings giving up 3 runs on 7 hits. MacKenzie Thornton earned the save pitching 3 innings giving up 2 runs on 1 hit.
They will play Central Oklahoma in the Championship game. An if necessary game would follow.
