Kansas Turnpike traffic will be constricted Monday in far northeast Lyon County.
Crews are conducting an inspection through the day on a bridge between mile markers 150 and 151, so three to four miles northeast of the Admire-Council Grove exit and 23 to 24 miles northeast of the Emporia gate. Monday’s project will affect the outside lanes for both northbound and southbound travelers, so those lanes will be closed.
Other road projects have been recently announced:
Interstate 35: Coffey, Osage counties
Traffic on part of Interstate 35 east of Emporia will be slowing down a bit the next few months.
Work began last week on a pavement marking project. The work began at the US Highway 75 junction in Coffey County and continues east to Ottawa.
Existing pavement marks are being removed and later replaced. Traffic will be down to one lane in both directions and there will be a reduced speed limit in the work zone.
Work should end in July. Traffic Control Company of St. Louis, Mo., won the contract with a bid of just under $1 million.
Kansas Highway 177: Morris County
The Kansas Department of Transportation has approved a bid for highway improvements northwest of Emporia.
A sealing project will impact Kansas Highway 177 from the Chase-Morris county line north about nine miles to the southern Council Grove city limits.
APAC-Kansas won the contract with a roughly $237,000 bid. A work schedule has not been released.
