National Tourism Week will begin a week early in Emporia.
The Emporia Convention and Visitors Bureau will be hosting tourism week beginning Tuesday with the wild card tour scavenger hunt. Teams of up to four people will have Tuesday and Wednesday to visit five locations as well as a wildcard location selected by their team.
CVB Director Susan Rathke says the locations were chosen to not only highlight historic sites in Emporia, but it’s successful businesses as well.
Rathke believes it is vital for the community to understand what Emporia has to offer, as they are the ones who act as spokespeople outside of Emporia. She says the more individuals they can bring to Emporia the more the city can continue to grow.
Other activities will include a trivia night at Mulready’s Wednesday, a reception for Wild Card Tour teams on Thursday from 6-7pm at the Lyon County History Center and a screening of the classic film Twister at 7 pm Friday at the Granada. For more information visit the CVB website.
