Two of three juvenile defendants charged as adults in a kidnapping and battery case from last fall have entered plea agreements.
Selena Hernandez pleaded no contest to aiding and abetting aggravated battery during a hearing Tuesday morning. Jonathon Manzano pleaded no contest Thursday afternoon to aggravated battery and attempted aggravated robbery.
Hernandez was originally facing a second charge of conspiracy to commit aggravated kidnapping. The state is seeking probation for Hernandez who was released from jail following the hearing. As a result, Judge Jeffry Larson lowered her bond from $50,000 to $5,000. She’s also been ordered to have no access to social media and no contact with the other defendants or the victim.
Sentencing for Hernandez will be June 27 at 9 a.m. Manzano will be sentenced June 26 at 9:30 a.m.
Manzano also has been ordered to remain on GPS and was ordered to surrender all social media passwords to his attorney. The state also is not opposed to probation for his sentencing.
A third juvenile facing adult charges, Armando Nunez, is still set for a preliminary hearing at 1:15 pm Thursday.
The hearings are the latest wave of activity in the case, which developed after a then-16-year-old male reported being kidnapped and later beaten at two separate locations, including once at the so-called Rocky Ford or Bird Bridge near Roads 140 and P. One adult defendant, Samuel Garcia, was sentenced to seven years in prison last week. The second adult defendant, Andrew Granado, has a preliminary hearing June 27 after that was delayed yesterday (M).
