Jorge Soler hit a 3 run homerun in the 13th inning lifting the Kansas City Royals to a 7-6 win over the Boston Red Sox Tuesday night.
Alex Gordon hit a solo homerun in the 9th to tie the game at 3 to send the game to extra innings. Both teams scored a run in the 12th before Soler hit his 3rd homerun of the season. Manager Ned Yost said they kept battling.
The Royals and Red Sox play again Wednesday afternoon with first pitch set for 12:10p. The game will be broadcast on KVOE 1400AM/96.9FM.
The Royals released veteran right-hander Clay Buchholz on Tuesday, the day of his opt-out clause in his Minor League deal.
Buchholz, 33, had been signed on March 25. He threw 16 Minor League innings between Double-A Northwest Arkansas and Triple-A Omaha, giving up 10 hits and two runs, along with seven walks and nine strikeouts.
