OLPE — If timing is everything, things could not be much worse for two Americus men arrested overnight on suspicion of several auto burglaries.
Already facing court hearings this week and next for burglaries and the discovery of a gun at Northern Heights early this year, Jace Sull, 18, and Chase Weaver, 19, both of Americus, were arrested Wednesday morning. Deputies were dispatched to the 100 block of East Bitler in Olpe around 1 am when a resident of the house came home and found two white males in the vehicle parked in the garage at that address. The resident approached both men and was able to get law enforcement to the house.
The two, later identified as Sull and Weaver, were arrested on suspected connection to four separate auto burglaries as well as other unspecified crimes.
Sull and Weaver were formally charged in late February after a gun was found at Northern Heights and then traced to a theft in Americus. Authorities also say at least one more firearm was recovered as part of that investigation.
A third defendant, 19-year-old Samuel Kehoe, was also arrested in connection with the case. He faces single counts of theft of property or services and interference with law enforcement.
Kehoe and Weaver were set for hearings in Lyon County District Court on Friday, while Sull has a hearing set for May 11. It’s unclear at this time if the recent arrests will adjust those upcoming hearing dates. Formal charges linked to Wednesday’s arrests are pending.
