Budget requests will now be part of the Lyon County Commission’s agendas pretty regularly over the next several weeks.
As part of a rare study meeting for commissioners Wednesday, the Emporia Public Library outlined its request for $169,000 in county funding. Director Robin Newell says this would be a $15,000 increase from the past three years, where the library received level funding from the county.
Newell says over 126,000 people visited the library last year. Sundays are the library’s busiest days with over 50 people an hour.
During Thursday’s action meeting, County Clerk Tammy Vopat will present a budget request. On another topic, Flint Hills Community Health Center Director Renee Hively will give the facility’s quarterly report.
The action meeting begins at 8 am in the County Courthouse.
