The Emporia High baseball team closed out the regular season with a doubleheader sweep of Topeka High Wednesday.
The Spartans won the first game 12-1 in 6 innings. Emporia High scored the 12 runs on 19 hits. Sawyer Slayden was 4 for 5 with 2 RBI. Skyler Douglas drove in 3 runs. Cade Kohlmeier and Riley Wagner each drove in 2 runs. Hayden Baumwart was the winning pitcher giving up 1 run on 6 hits with 6 strikeouts.
Emporia High won the 2nd game 7-3. The Spartans scored a run in the 6th to break a 3-3 tie and added 3 more runs in the 7th. 5 players drove in a run. Sawyer Slayden was the winning pitcher going 6 and two-thirds innings giving up 3 runs on 10 hits with 5 strikeouts.
Emporia High ends the regular season with a 9-11 record. The regional tournament will be played next week.
