Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt says hundreds of thousands of Kansas residents may have had their Facebook data improperly shared.
Schmidt says close to 650,000 residents may have had their information improperly linked to Cambridge Analytica and other currently unnamed third-party businesses. Initially, about 2,700 Kansas users had installed a “thisisyourdigitallife” app. That action then granted access to another 645,000 users in Kansas who were friends of those installing the app.
Schmidt’s comments come as part of a response from 37 state and territory attorneys general, who requested answers to Facebook’s privacy policies and procedures in light of widespread concerns about personal data and privacy.
