Abate District 12 is riding for Motorcycle Awareness Month.
Motorcycles with signs reading “Look Twice, Save A Life” will be seen between Emporia and Olpe, Saturday for Abate’s Motorcycle Awareness Ride. Abate spokesperson Deb Fuller talked about their message.
Fuller noted that based on most recent statistics from National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Kansas had 1,121 motorcycle accidents in 2016 with 52 fatalities.
The ride will meet at 12:30 at Guion’s Showcase parking lot at Sixth and prairie, with the ride launching at 1 p.m. to the Olpe Chicken House for a meal. Fuller says anyone with a roadworthy motorcycle is welcome to join the ride and they will provide free signs.
