The National Weather Service now says the KVOE listening area had three brief tornado touchdowns the evening of May 2.
Warning coordination meteorologist Chad Omitt confirms two short-lived twisters based in part on photos submitted by KVOE listeners during our storm coverage that evening. A touchdown was confirmed in the 2000 block of Road 80 near Hartford shortly before 8 pm, with a second touchdown near US Highway 50 and Contour Road outside Lebo a few minutes later.
Those twisters came from the same thunderstorm line segment that produced a brief twister that dropped near BETO Junction at Interstate 35 and US Highway 75. No damage was officially reported for the Hartford-area and Lebo-area twisters. Highway signs were the only damage reported for the BETO Junction tornado. Information on damage path length and width is pending for all three touchdowns.
