The Emporia State softball team advanced to the NCAA Central Region 1 championship game with a 1-0 win over Minnesota Duluth Friday.
The Lady Hornets scored the games only run in the 4th inning. Hailey Cope led off the inning with a double. Advanced to 3rd on a wildpitch and scored on a sacrifice fly hit by Danielle Sprinkle.
Freshman Montana Mesler shutout Duluth on 4 hits. She struckout 5 including the game ending out. It was her second win in the Central Regional tournament.
Coach April Rosales says they played with a lot of confidence.
Emporia State will play the winner of the elimination game between Minnesota Duluth and Arkansas Tech. Arkansas Tech eliminated Winona State 4-0.
The game will be broadcast on MIX 104.9 beginning at 3:15p. An if necessary game would be played Sunday at 11am.
