ESB Financial celebrated the opening of its “Bank of the Future” with a ribbon-cutting and tours Friday.
Close to 100 people came for the ribbon-cutting at the bank’s main office at 801 Merchant, with many people staying for tours afterward. Bank vice president Karen Sommers says the redesign was partly borne out of necessity after several issues had developed over time, including a leaking roof, drainage issues, off-and-on air conditioning and asbestos.
Sommers says small-town banks like ESB Financial have to be creative in keeping their customers and attracting new ones, which added emphasis to the renovations.
The renovations also bring the latest technology to ESB Financial’s downtown branch. At the same time, Sommers says the redesign also gives ESB Financial a prime opportunity to adjust its banking model somewhat to what the bank calls a “personal banker” model.
