Lyon County residents are encouraged to take part in a mock election coming soon.
County Clerk Tammy Vopat says the mock election is set for Monday afternoon at the Fairgrounds Anderson Building. Vopat says this will help residents understand how new voting machines will work after they were bought by the county in February.
Voters will be given a bar code and a narrow-sized piece of paper. The voter will then scan the bar code for the proper touch-screen ballot and also insert the paper for a hard copy. After making the initial selections, voters can review their choices on the ballot screen and again when they print out their ballot.
The mock election will take place from 3-6 pm. Vopat says Elections Office staffers will give a mock ballot to anybody participating. ID will not be needed with this event.
