No injuries were reported after fire destroyed a garage in Neosho Rapids on Saturday.
Hartford-Neosho Rapids firefighters and Lyon County deputies were alerted to the fire at 702 Walnut shortly after 6 pm. Deputies say the detached garage was fully engulfed in flames when help arrived.
Hartford-Neosho Rapids fire crews got the fire out, but the building and its contents were a total loss. The cause is currently undetermined but is likely accidental.
Emporia and Olpe fire departments were toned out as mutual aid but were canceled before arriving on scene.
Lyon County records show the property is owned by Anthony Smith.
