The Emporia State baseball team defeated Missouri Western 6-4 and Pittsburg State 4-0 to stay alive at the MIAA Tournament.
The Hornets scored 3 runs in the first inning against Missouri Western on 2 sacrifice flys and a Kyle Lopez single. They added 3 more runs in the 6th on a Mack Brown triple and Kaden Shaffer single.
Seth Holman was the winning pitcher going 8 innings giving up 1 run on 6 hits with 9 strikeouts. Trey Taylor earned the save.
Emporia State scored a run in the first inning against Pittsburg State. They would add 3 runs in the third inning and held on for the 4-0 win. Emporia State will play Pittsburg State again Sunday at 9am.
The winner of that game will play Central Missouri at 12:30p for the MIAA tournament championship and automatic NCAA regional bid.
