Flint Hills Technical College is cooking up something big for its culinary arts students of the future, and the Jones Testamentary Trust is providing more than just food for thought as a capital campaign really gets rolling.
The Jones Trust is providing a lead gift of $400,000 as part of the “Inspiring Wranglers: The Campaign for Tomorrow’s Chefs” campaign. Director of Advancement Mike Crouch called the announcement big for the effort, in part because it gives students a chance to attain chef status as soon as they get an associates degree from the program.
Crouch also says this will let the program be accredited by the American Culinary Federation.
The goal is a total renovation and expansion of the Hospitality and Culinary Arts program, including the lab areas, dedicated classroom space, a chemistry lab and renovated student commons area.
