A significant water main project will begin in Emporia the next few days.
Emporia’s City Engineering Department has put orange construction cones up on 12th Avenue stretching from just west of Prairie Street to between Grand and Garfield. Work is set to begin Monday, and City Engineer Jim Ubert tells KVOE News this is the first part of a two-phase project.
Work could last two months.
Phase 2 is work on a water line along Rural and East Wilman Court from 15th to 18th. Ubert says that replacement project should take about a month and will affect both brick and asphalt. Work here will start by late July after the 12th Avenue project ends.
Ubert says there will be no on-street parking allowed during the work on Rural and East Wilman, although residents will have access to their driveways.
