Wichita Heights scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th, the winning run on a wild pitch to slip past the Emporia High baseball team 2-1 in the regional championship game.
Emporia High scored the games first run in the 6th inning, Hayden Baumwart scored on a Jace Stewart sacrifice fly. Wichita Height would score 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th with the winning run scoring on a wild pitch.
Emporia High advanced to the championship game by outscoring Salina South 6-4 in 8 innings. The Spartans took an early lead scoring single runs in the 1st and 2nd innings. They would take a 4-0 lead with 2 runs in the 5th inning.
Salina South rallied scoring 2 runs in the 5th and 2 more runs in the bottom of the 7th. In the 8th inning, Sawyer Slayden doubled in 2 runs to take a 6-4 lead. Cade Kohlmeier also drove in 2 runs and was the winning pitcher.
Emporia High finishes the season with a 10-12 record.
