Little damage resulted from a fire that developed inside an Emporia School District bus Friday morning.
A student’s cell phone apparently got too hot and caught fire in a bus at Emporia High, according to Transportation Director Becky Douglas. There was some smoke and some melting of a seat as a result.
No injuries have been reported. Students on the bus were evacuated without incident. Emporia Fire was called out to check for any extension of the fire, but everything was contained to the area right around the cell phone. There is no word yet on what caused the cell phone to heat up and eventually catch fire.
