Augustana scored 2 runs in the top of the 9th and out scored the Emporia State baseball team 4-2 in the second round of the NCAA Central Regional tournament in Magnolia, Arkansas Friday.
Emporia State took an early 1-0 lead when Mason Brown scored on a Kaden Shaffer single.
Augustana tied the game in the 4th on 3 straight singles. The Vikings took the lead in the 5th on a walk, an error and sacrifice bunt.
Emporia State tied the game in the 6th when Bryce Fischer scored on a Mason Brown single. After the 6th only 1 Emporia State batter reached 1st base.
Augustana would score 2 runs in the 9th for the win.
Emporia State starting pitcher Seth Holman pitched 8 innings giving up 2 runs on 5 hits.
Coach Bob Fornelli said they lost to a good team.
Emporia State will play Central Oklahoma Saturday in an elimination game at 11am. The Hornets swept the Bronchos in a 3 game series during the season. Senior Catcher Mason Brown says that does not matter.
Saturdays game will be broadcast on MIX 104.9. Coverage begins at 10:45a
Central Oklahoma eliminated Oklahoma Baptist 4-1.
Southern Arkansas eliminated Pittsburg State 5-1.
