White Auditorium was the festive place to be this weekend as Flint Hills Technical College held its spring commencement.
President Dean Hollenbeck commended the students for their achievements during the ceremony as well as their family, friends and faculty. The keynote speaker was non-traditional FHTC student, Brome Schraad, who received his Associate of Applied Science degree in network technology. He says there was a great sense of accomplishment walking on that stage.
Schraad describes what inspired him for his speech Saturday.
While he doesn’t have a job lined up right away after graduation, Schraad says he’s confident he’ll be able to find something. But first, he has other priorities to take care of.
Schraad says he even had to prepare a video speech just in case the baby came on graduation day.
More than 200 students received their degrees Saturday during commencement.
