Click it or Ticket enforcement will be kicking off across the country, state and area the next two weeks.
Emporia Police Department Sgt. Lisa Sage says not wearing a seat belt is not only dangerous but also illegal.
Sage says the program will run from Monday through June 3.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office is also participating in this national effort. Sheriff Jeff Cope says even if you are a good driver, you can still have an accident.
With extra patrol members out looking for seat belt and moving violations for the next two weeks, fines for seat belt violations will cost upwards of $100.
