One person was hospitalized Friday after a wreck involving a pickup and motorcycle in north Lyon County.
Lyon County deputies were paged out to First and Maple in Americus around 8:15 p.m. An investigation revealed that 66-year-old Tom Ayers had been driving his Harley-Davidson motorcycle southbound when he collided with a pickup truck, driven by 18-year-old Samuel Russell of Americus at the intersection. The truck was attempting to make a westbound turn.
Ayers was transported to Newman Regional Health by ambulance, with non-life-threatening injuries. Russell was not injured and was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reminds motorists to remain vigilant as the weather gets warmer and motorcycle and bicycle traffic will increase.
The accident remains under further investigation by the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.
