There is just about a week left for community members to win a patriotic quilt from local quilters.
The drawing for the special “Thank you Troops” quilt will be taking place Tuesday, May 30 at Waters True Value.
Spokesperson Rosetta Fields says the point of the new quilt is to give community members the same feeling of joy shown by veterans who receive their quilts from the group each year as a part of All Veterans Week in Emporia.
All proceeds from the fundraiser will go to support the Quilts of Gratitude women who make the quilts each year with money out of their own pockets.
The quilt is currently on display at Waters True Value. Anyone wishing to enter for a chance to win the quilt may pick up tickets at the Chamber, Waters True Value or KVOE. Suggested donations are $5 for one chance to win or $10 for three chances.
