A preliminary hearing has been pushed into June for a teenager charged as an adult in a kidnapping and beating case dating back to last fall.
Alexander Couch originally waived his formal arraignment and was bound over for a preliminary hearing that was set for Monday. That has now been continued to June 21 in front of Judge Jeff Larson.
Couch is the last of seven defendants to be charged in the case, which stems from allegations made by a then-16-year-old male that he was kidnapped and subsequently beaten twice, including once at the so-called Rocky Ford or Bird Bridge. He’s charged with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated battery, conspiracy on those counts and aggravated robbery.
Several of Couch’s co-defendants have either been sentenced or reached plea agreements in Lyon County District Court. Samuel Garcia has been sentenced to seven years in prison, while sentencing hearings are set for June 26 for Jonathon Manzano and June 27 for Selena Hernandez. Charges against Daniel Garcia were dismissed as part of a plea arrangement.
Meanwhile, Armando Nunez has a pretrial hearing June 5 on aggravated battery and conspiracy charges. Andrew Granado is set for a preliminary hearing June 27.
