Community will have several chances to save lives by donating blood starting this week.
The first of several summer blood drives is taking place Friday at Flinthills Mall. According to Red Cross spokesperson Jan Hale, the summer months see a large decrease in donors as college students, who account for nearly 20% of donations, all return home for the end of the school year.
Hale says it only takes one pint of blood to help potentially save three individual lives. She says blood donations are an incredible gift to give others, and they strive to make the donor process as simple as possible.
Friday’s blood drive will begin at 11 am and run until 5 pm.
