Lyon County commissioners fielded more budget requests from department heads and allocation agency leaders during their study meeting Wednesday with more presentations coming.
Emporia Main Street requested $25,000 and SOS asked for $21,000 for their 2019 budgets. Both requests were flat when compared to this year’s budget.
Meanwhile, the Lyon County Register of Deeds, Treasurer’s Office and Motor Vehicle budget requests all include a 3-percent raise for merit or cost of living increases.
County Commissioner Dan Slater tells KVOE News the county and its departments are doing their best to give residents the best bang for the buck, especially in light of a spending lid enacted by state lawmakers two years ago.
Budget requests are also planned when the County Commission has its action meeting at 8 am Thursday. The Lyon County Conservation District, Hetlinger Developmental Services and Lyon County Extension will all present budget requests.
Separately, BG Consultants principal Bruce Boettcher will have an update on water system improvements impacting Rural Water District No. 1, especially from Americus north to Bushong.
The action meeting is at 8 am in the County Courthouse.
