Children and their families learned about what they can do to keep their summer safe and fun.
The 5th annual Keep It a Safe Summer event was held Wednesday evening at the Lyon County Fairgrounds Anderson Building. The event brings in several local organizations who offer fun and safe activities for children during the summer.
Organizer Rhonda Gordon says thanks to the event children know there is always something to do in Emporia in the summertime.
There was plenty to do and see during the event including obstacle courses, fun party games, bike safety demonstrations and even a 5K/2K run and walk for all ages. After all of the activities families could enjoy some tasty hot dogs courtesy of Fannestil Meats.
The event is organized by the Keep It a Safe Summer taskforce which includes several local community groups.
