USD 253’s summer meal program will be kicking off next week.
Riverside, Walnut, and William Allen White Elementary schools will kick off the free meals for kids program on May 29. USD 253 Student and Family Resource Specialist Heather Wagner says it’s great to help out kids who really need this service.
USD 253 Director of Community Relations Lyndel Landgren says they’ll be covering a lot of ground this year.
Emporia Middle School, the Emporia Recreation Center, and MealSpot food truck will start service on June 4th. Breakfast will be from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at the middle school, from 8 to 9 a.m. at the three elementary schools, with lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at all building locations.
MealSpot this year will serve lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesdays.
As for Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, MealSpot will be on the move, starting lunch service at Green Acres Mobile Home Park from 10:45 to 11:15 a.m. then moving to East street near East Gate Plaza from noon to 1 p.m.
