The Chase County baseball and softball teams won their first round games in State tournament play Thursday.
The Chase County baseball team defeated number West Elk 16-5 in 5 innings. They will face Spearville in the semi-finals this afternoon.
The Chase County softball team defeated Uniontown 8-5. They will play Udall in the semi-finals. Udall advanced after out scoring Lebo/Waverly 10-6.
Osage City won their first round game at the 3A State tournament. The Indians defeated Cheney 7-2. They will play Silver Lake in the semi-finals.
At the 4A Division II tournament Burlington was defeated by Baldwin 12-7 in 8 innings in the first round.
The first round games of the 4A Division I softball tournament will be played today beginning at 9am after yesterdays games were rained out.
They did play all 4 games in the 4A Division I baseball tournament.
In the days first game Arkansas City shutout Independence 10-0.
Andover Central out scored Ottawa 4-3. Tonganoxie upset number 1 seed Paola 3-2. Bishop Miege out scored Buhler 8-2.
Todays games begin at 11am with Arkansas City playing Andover Central. At 1:15 Tonganoxie plays Bishop Miege. The 3rd place game will be played at 3:30p with the championship game set to begin a 5:45p.
The third game has Paola playing Tonganoxie. The start of that game was delayed due to weather.
The Late game has Buhler playing Bishop Miege.
